Sunset. The end to another day . Whether it is a scorching day of summer or a mild day of winter, sunset holds a symbolic role. The end of a day and the beginning of a night means the promise of a new day ahead, with new hopes and new dreams, wishes.

The time of sunset is defined in astronomy as the moment when the trailing edge of the Sun’s disk disappears below the horizon. Sunset is distinct from dusk, which is the time at which the sky becomes completely dark. The period between sunset and dusk is called twilight.

Sunsets can be spectacular. Seeing the sun go down behind the Aravalli hills or behind the vast expanse of the sea at Kanyakumari can be uplifting and a feast for the eyes. Even in the city, seeing the sun set from a skyscraper, the city skyline in the backdrop, can be a feast for the eye if one is sufficiently oriented to the beauty of life around us. The intense orange colour of the setting sun, the drafty clouds in the sky and the locational features add a special quality to sunset.

I have presented some photos from around the country, to bring about the beauty of sunset at different locations.

Very nice idea and post. You posted sunset from Faridabad and Hyd, both places I happened to have stayed at. Which place is that btw in Hyd?

Thanks, Jatin. I think this was somewhere near Gachibowli.
